The Governors visit.

On October the 13th Camilo had the honor of hosting the Governor of Victoria, His Excellency Alex Chernov and his wife Mrs Elizabeth Chernov.
The Governors visit coincided with our annual chef's tasting and education morning.

The day started out crisp and clear, a real blessing in the turbulent weather that can be Spring. Our chefs arrived bright and early for a tour of the grove, learning from Sue how we manage the trees and harvest our olives.

Then we moved into the shed for a run down on how we process our olives for oil. Explaining the machinery, and how we process our extra virgin olive oil to the highest of standards and ethics, keeping to the Australian code of practice.

After the tour of the plant, we all had a seat for the highlight, the tasting of our new season extra virgin olive oils.
It was a wonderful session exploring the different flavours and nuances that naturally occur from one variety of olive to the next.

A table of gorgeous local produce was laid out for our visitors afterwards. Complimenting Camilo's gorgeous olive oils, tapenade, olive jam and chocolate mousse' there were, cheeses and yoghurts from Meredith Dairy,  cold cuts from Meredith Free Range Pork, and delicious coffee enthusiastically supplied by Nathan from the Coffee Cartel

Camilo would like to thank The Governor and Mrs Chernov for their gracious company, the Mayor and Councillors of Golden Plains Shire and all our wonderful Chefs and the Coffee Cartel for their precious time. We hoped you all enjoyed the day as much as we did!

Happy dancing!

Happy dancing was what the girls at Camilo were doing last night, all in tune to a few yahoo's and yipee's!

A sharp eyed Camilo customer directed our attention to the very popular TV show 'Better Homes and Gardens' website.

Here you will find a video of 'fast' Ed using our Olive oil to make some pizza dough for homemade pizza bases for the BBQ. YUM!

So proud of our little bottle of oil becoming a TV star *happy sigh*

The Camilo Family

Camilo is a little grove, on the edge of a little town, run by a little crew of people, but we are little guys doing big things.

Let's meet the Camilo family ...

There are the Camilo girls ...Joan, Sue, Anne and her beautiful bubby Millie, and me, Karen.
Joan and Anne in the grove.

Sue and I doing what we do best.

Then there are the all important men of the family, Sir Peter (omnipresent, but silent), Ben and our grove manager, Max (a most distinguished member of the family, if not a little bit of a slobber chops).

Max and Sir Peter
Masters of their domain.

Together we make Camilo, a little fish in a very big pond.
With this Blog we hope to share our journey as we grow and learn, and hopefully turn our little minnow into a, well a bigger fish  (fishing is really not my thing, lol).
